home keys on notebook won't work

    A friend has a Dull Inspirion 5100 and the home keys (asdfjkl;) won't type but all the other keys do.
    Is this some kind of a security thing or a failed keyboard?
    If so how can I unlock it?

    Have you tried plugging in an external keyboard?

    If the external keyboard works, or doesn't work, it looks like it might be a mobo / keyboard problem, rather than a locked keyboard.IMHO, of course. :D
