I hope someone can help me here. I have networked my computer with my husbands. We have a Linsky 5 port hub and both have Windows XP, his home mine pro. I connect to the internet, he connects through my machine since all we get is dial up here, that allows us both to be on at the same time. We share the printer as well as files. Very ofter when I reboot I lose the network connection and he can't print etc, sometimes it says it is still there, but nothing will work till I run the new connection wizard again, this always fixes it.

Sometimes his internet will not work well, other times it is as fast as mine, again running the network connections will usually fix that problem. Not always though.

Am I doing something wrong or is there some other problem here?
    Thanks! Peggie

Since everything is connected to your comp it acts as the server for the 2 mainly..and when it goes down so do all the applications. You should try to have that computer up or shut down the other one b4 you shut the server one down. Still seeing the network conn or printer is just a small glitch.

    Angelz,
Thank you for answering. Things will be working fine and then if I need to reboot for some reason It loses the ability to print and sometimes everything else too. I run the new network connection wizard and I have it back again usually. I think it is in the McAffe firewall at this point, but not sure. We have tried everything else we could think of and i made some some changes in the firewall, but havee not shut down since I did so not sure if it is working or not.

Anyone have McAffee and a home network to help me??

Some settings in Windows aren't saved until you do a normal shutdown -- if Windows crashes, the settings aren't saved. Could this be why you have to keep running the new network connection wizard?

You will have to re-establish a dial-up connection any time Windows goes down, because the connection will go down with the system that had the connection. But Windows should retain the connection data through a shutdown. Once you've run the connnection setup wizard, launching your browser or sending e-mail should be enough to make Windows re-establish the dial-up connection.

If the connection has been properly configured, that is.

I run that kind of setup, mcaffe on all the pc's and wireless network with file sharing.
What version of firewall are you running? (if tis same as mine i can talk you through some points!)
