Home network/printer problem

I have been using a Desktop with XP and a Canon MP510 printer for about 5 years. 3 years ago, I added a Belkin router so I could create a home network to support my laptop with Windows 7. All worked fine with internet and printer access.

I just had to have my hard drive replaced on my laptop. Files were saved and I have been re-installing pgms. I re-connected to the home network and I can see the printer, but when it tries to connect I get a message that Windows cannot find the MP510 driver and aborts. I updated the drivers using the Desktop, but when I try to update using the Laptop, I get a message that it is a 64 byte machine and aborts. I don't think there are 64 byte drivers for the MP510.

I can't understand why replacing the hard drive has caused this.

Thanks for help and/or suggestions !

Of course not. The scanner portion may, but that won't help for any other part of the printer (separate driver for the function).
