    Ok,
windows 7. trying to get home networking to work on this laptop, unable to leave and get the error, "windows couldnt remove your computer from the homegroup". Also when I try to make changes, like even showing the password, nothing, nada.

I had checked running services and tried to get the peer networking to run, and always get an error. I have checked numerous websites and to no avail to get it running.

Is there anyway to get this reset?

the other computers on the network have no issues like this.

    Hi

Is your Win7 at Service Pack 1? just a pre-question and it doesnt need to be yet.

Could you run the HomeGroup Troubleshooter, stepsHERE and tell me what if any issues are found?

If its a Peer Name Resolution Protocol error then the below should fix this up.

First delete this file idstore.sst at this location C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst

Then click to start a HomeGroup in Explorer if it errors you should get an option to Refresh the HomeGroup if not run the HomeGroup Troubleshooter again and that should do it.

then enter Services and make sure the Peer Name Resolution Protocol, Peer Networking Grouping, PNRP Machine Name Publication Service, Homegroup Listener and Homegroup Provider are all started. Then try a create a HomeGroup again.

    OK.
the answer to all the above questions are:
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
Troubleshooting problems found(which I have tried to fix via all the internet sources):
Either the Peer Name Resolution Protocol service (PNRPsvc) or
the Peer Networking Identity Manager service(p2pimsvc) is not...

Then it went on and said Troubleshooting has completed.
    Problems found
Peer Networking Grouping service isnt running NOT FIXED X
HomeGroup Provider service isn't running Fixed /

It ran the network diagnostics and came up with:
either the peer name resolution protocol service or the peer networking identity manager service is not running.

    I looked for that location:
    C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst

and as I have tried to fix as stated by hundreds of posts, the idstore.sst file IS NOT there in fact the only folder that is listed under \...\Roaming\Microsoft and not PeerNetworking at all.

checked the services with this result:
Peer Name Resolution Protocol: error 1079
Peer Networking Grouping : error 1068
PNRP Machine Name Publication Service: error 1068
    Homegroup Listener: started (already running)
    Homegroup Provider: started (already running)

Still unable to do anything with homegroup.
