Ok I've read all the forums I could find on this issue and I still can't get it to work.

    I've done the following

1.) Enter Save mode and gone to My Computer>Manage>Services and Applications> Services
    Found Network Security Services
(I Couldn't set it to Stop)
    Found the Path C:\Windows\System32\Netxi.exe /s
(Didn't know what I was supposed to do with this)
    Put it on Disabled
    Hit OK
    Then Closed it.

2.) Ran HSremove it removed 17 files.

    3.) Went to Regedit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
    Highlighted HSA,SE,SW
    Deleted those and closed regedit.

4.) Rebooted the machine and when I opened IE got the same homepage and Pop ups.

If anyone is still awake at 1:19 AM EST I could really use some help

    Thank you in advance,
    -Dee-

    Welcome to MajorGeeks Dee,

Head on over to the Spyware Specific forum and post a HijackThis log (assuming you've read the 2 sticky'd posts at the top of that forum)... include as much information about your computer and your previous uninstall attempts as possible... also, i believe if you repeatedly try to fix the problem and keep rebooting, it just respawns the nasty hijacker and makes matters worse... so perhaps you might want to stop trying to combat it and wait until you can get more advice in the Spyware forum....

    best of luck

Well I don't have HijackThis I can do a google search when I get home. So I should go to Spyware and download that and HijackThis?

    Thanks

Dee .. by all means download HiJackThis.... BUT please before using it and posting a log file read this info all about the steps and software needed to take to aid in the removal of your spyware before you even get to the stage of posting a log file, it will in the end give you a quicker and easier solution.

follow these steps and if then its not removed do post a log with as much info as to whats happening with the particular spy you are experiencing.

Ok Downloaded Adware (newest version) and Spybot (newest version) I've tried to set "network security service" to disable but it keeps changing to automatic. I also wrote down the path and file under "Path to executible" but I have no clue what I should do with that information. I'm not all that computer knowledgeable when it comes to all the settings that you guys are talking about so what am I missing and what should I do. I'm lost and everyone keeps pointing to different directions and i'm getting lost.

Sorry to be a pain but i'm just totally lost.

completely understandable... we all have to start somewhere... hell i dont even know that much but this site has helped improve my knowledge considerably... your spyware problem needs to be addressed in the Spyware Specific forum... start your own thread... indicate that you HAVE read the STICKY threads and have run updated scans with Adaware/Spybot... post your Hijack This logfile (make sure you close all instances of Internet Explorer running and close all unnecessary programs)...

You can get Hijack This here:

    http://majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

Make sure you don't save it to your desktop or a temporary folder, save it to your hard drive...

Best thing you can do is just post your logfile in the spyware forum and wait... There is something in that forum who is having success at helping people remove the Home Search Assistant... Just be patient and i'm confident you will get the help you're looking for :)
