I would like to run a home website server so I can host my website. I already have the dyndns set up and when the external url is typed in my live webcam using webcamXP shows up so I know port 80 is open. I just want my website to load when the url is entered. In other words it's all good from the internet to my computer but how do I get my htdocs folder to open to port 80? Any help? I will use, xaamp server. My ISP allows home servers and I run win xp home sp3. I am aware of the security issues, I just need help directing incoming http requests to the folder where my site is indexed. Thanks for any help.

Did you forward the port on your router?

Thank you for your reply KingSteve, and props to Halo for placing this where it needed to be. The issue is resolved by setting the listening port in XAAMP to port 80 which I had already port forwarded for webcamXP. Now when I turn off my webcam, http requests are routed directly to the public, (htdocs) folder where my site will reside. I will incorporate the webcam into the site and that should work out just fine. I learned that I cannot have multiple apps "listening to the same port". Thanks again!

Im having similar issues, I have a home server set up its working fine on the LAN but i cant seem to get through to the WAN. My IP resolves fine with DNS but i cant get this sucker up and running.

    Running XP SP3, Xserver(webserver)
Belkin router that i have port 80 forwarded on.

Windows firewall is shut down, Mcaffee firewall turned off.

Getting my but kicked and need a little help here.

Did you set up port fowarding in the router?

Oh yeah, definitely got the ports forwarded, what i am noticing now it that my WAN Ip that pops up on WAN retrieval sites is different than the WAN Ip listed in the Belkin router's home screen. This is not a changeable setting.

So i might be having issues with the router going f-ing crazy.

    Server thinks its IP A
    websites think im IP A
Server thinks im IP B-----> same IP as the DMZ on the belkin?!?!
