I have wireless running at my home with a linksys. It is connected to an older XP pc which is not used. It also has to run through my tv connection box since this is how I get internet. The problem is, when it was set up, they used the ip addresses. i have to put in IP addresses for everything, and I bring work issued computers home that I don't want a static ip address in. Also because of this, my daughter can't get online with her ipod touch at home. I need it to be an open access.

Please explain further about your IP supplier.

Are you constrained to one IP address?

If so you need to buy a router that can act as a bridge and connect it directly to the internet 'supply'.

All I can tell you is that the person who set it up said my other computers should connect without an ip addy, but they didn't...

I have to have ip's for everything and I want to get away from that.

I presume you are paying someone for the internet service, perhaps as part of some other service. Do they not have a helpdesk?

You need to find the answer to my questions. Is your internet & TV a cable service?
