Homegroup Network Setup Advice

Hi all,

I am setting up a HomeGroup in a Windows environment and am having trouble understanding it all.

Having managed successfully to get several computers to see one another, when I try to view files on one machine from another, I am unable to see the contents of the folders.

I am also have real trouble understanding various aspects of the Windows Explorer file folder system. (For instance, what is the theory about why I can see the computers under 'Network' and again under 'Homegroup'?

Can you please provide me with advice or links to trusted resources for a newbie to review and explore?

You failed to mention what versions of Windows all the computers you are trying to network are running. Yup, it does matter because different versions of Windows use different terminology and are set up differently.
