Without actually doing the artwork myself wich would be cheating... I will offer this guidence,

Search the net and save pictures relating to the aformentioned topic, then choose a background, this can be anything from the Starwars series eg. A simple picture of space and stars, a battlestar, a planet.

then choose some characters from the series and cut them out of whatever picture they are in and paste them into your new background, then add a title and your done.

for guideance just look at how they design the DVD covers for the films and roughly use them for a general guide on look.

the criteria is -: " a creative artistic image inspired by the book. you may not simply copy the cover" it doesn't say 'original artwork' or 'your own'. my son doesn't feel confident in his own abilities to create artwork. so please don't feel that providing him with something (ANYTHING) would somehow be doing his work for him. he has searched on line, and has so far only been able to come up with the book covers themselves. there are no illustrations within the book itself, apart from the cover. if you can provide him with something, then he can state where he obtained the illustration from and why. (the back cover will state -:
    1) what exactly is the image?
    2) what does it represent?
    3) where in the book is it from?
    4) why did you choose to do what you did? )

PS. i personally feel that book reports detract from the pleasure of reading!!!

How about, as Halo suggests, find the pictures on the website, but rather than an artistic scene, he could make a collage out of them. It's creative, but more random, not requiring the same type of artistic skill, if he doesn't feel he has this. HTH

Laurie, what graphics applications do you or he have on the PC?

Do you have a StarWars look font for the main title? the secondary title of "jedi apprentice, the defender of the dead" can be in any font he thinks suits the purpose.

Attached below are some StarWars fonts if you don't.

A potential good source of images http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=star wars characters&sa=N&tab=wi

you're welcome Laurie, cropping the images to cutout parts depends on which graphics program you/he has installed, but just look for a crop/free form select tool, crop and save the images then just paste them into a background, add titles etc

just holler if you need any more help with graphics as their are a few good artists on here with good knowledge of different graphic apps :)

london and the south east. Zoe is in bexleyheath, Adam is in gillingham kent. he will spend the time between his brother and sister, and all the other members of a large extended family. nervous as hell at the thought of him travelling all that way on his own. wont rest untill i know he arrived safely.

ps. lev, posted your package on the 6th. dont know if you will get it before Christmas, but hope so.

Thanks hunnie, that's very sweet of you :)

I know when my kids flew back on their own I was a wreck all the time. I spent hours tracking the flight on the computer and sending texts for them to pick up at their connection in Chicago. I rang American Airlines countless times too. Everything went so smoothly Laurie. It's a heart wrenching experience for us, but the airlines are used to dealing with this all the time and are very experienced and professional.

I am now much more confident for when they fly back out here in March :) Does your son have a direct flight, or with connections?

two connections, LA and boston. he has traveled to san fran on his own before, and to LA, but they were both direct flights. he's 13 now and a sensible polite young man, but thinks he knows everything about everything, and has led a very sheltered life over here. i know he's in good hands, and will in fact charm the pants off the flight attendants, and will be thoroughly spoiled, both on the journey and when he gets there. his sister is like a second mum to him, and is as capable as i am, if not more so. he worships her, so im not worried as to whether she will manage to keep him in line. so all in all its just a general, phantom, worry, without substance or cause. I'll be OK when he's arrived. (or at least a little less fretful) :)

He'll be fine, as you say. The Unaccompanied Minor service is great :)

well he arrived in jolly old blighty 6 hours late. that was a very long six hours!!! especially for my poor daughter waiting at heathrow. there was 'weather' at boston. the flight attendants let him out to play. he was all excited when i spoke to him that it was 'just like on the telly' , and that the snow was the same as on mauna kea!!! this is not the first time he has been in snow, he went skiing on magic mountain a few years back, but it was warm and sunny on the mountain, so maybe he thought that mountain snow was different from the blizzards we watch happening in other states. no wonder i worry that he has led a sheltered life!! I'm much happier that he is now in his sisters arms and hands. he is a much blessed child. i managed to buy him a whole load of new, designer label winter clothes from the sal. army. (our stores don't even stock coats etc.). the miracle is not in the fact that they were there, people often bring 'real clothes' to Hawaii, and promptly ditch them when they arrive. the miracle was in the fact that they were all in his size!! we don't really 'do' the designer label thing here, but i know they do in england, so its cool he's dressed in tommy helfinger, lands end, boss, and gap, etc.

Hehe...he's going to come back saying things like "jumpers" and "trousers" and "let's go down the pub"...errr....well.....hopefully not the latter ;)

Hope he has a great time.

Just this morning I've had to explain what I meant by calling someone a "nutter".

I've also had to explain the difference between "sherry" and the girl's name.

He's also going to come back saying "Oi mate" and "sorted". No-one understands that here.

naw, me n hubby still have the strongest south london accents. i talk a little 'posher' due to a private education. jacob has a universal accent...somewhere between english, calafornian, and pidgin!! he sounds 'foriegn' whereever he goes, his vocab swaps from english to U.S. as he talks to people. (to us he will say torch, to someone else flashlight etc.) he is also well versed in english swear words, although he's not allowed to use them!

When I first got here everyone tried out dodgy English words on me that they just don't use in the states. There was a few I had to restrict the use of!

I'm picking up the words now....flashlight, hood (not bonnet), trunk ( not boot...oh boy..they think it's so funny I put things in the boots of cars), windshield, backpack (not rucksack), fanny pack (not bum bag....I sent my son one for christmas...he will have hysterics when he reads the label!)

It is getting old though...being picked up for words I pronouce differently...like tomatoes. I try to fit in and say it "correctly" but somethings take time. They don't do it in my friends and family circle anymore...I'm accepted, but work gets a little tedious at times with it.

living here is even more odd, because of the pidgin. i just tell people that correct me that i am the ONLY one speaking 'proper' english, and they should all be copying me, not the other way round. i have caused offense by telling people that they speak 'bastardized english'. lol. so take pride in your accent, although i do try to remember the different words when applicable. the one that causes they most confusion is pants vs. trousers, and pants, vs. underwear. (or even bbd's?). i cant bring myself to say fanny pack. lol. and 'fags' raises eyebrows too.

ROFL...funny you should say that. I just sent an e-mail to my brother warning him that one of my son's has a camo fanny pack for Christmas from me.

Yeah...fag (cigarette) is a killer (literally!). And where I came from, if you scrounged a fag off a friend you would ask if you could "bum a fag"...oh boy......that one raises a few eyebrows...as does "fag butt" lol

I tell them the same Laurie.....when I get told to pronouce coupe as "coop", I break out into conversant French
