Homeworld 2 Problem. Sierra/Vivendi/Relic no help.

Hello,
When ever there is a message from the Mothership like, "Resource trial complete" from mission one, or any automated message with the accompanying text, it stays there and will not let me go further into the mission.
One way I have found around this is to save the game and then load it again, then it continues on with the next automated message. However, this only works to a point to where I am inevitably stuck in the mission from the last time I had an automated message. The widescreen doesn't disappear, the name of the area remains, as does the "Game Saved" message. I cannot progress any further than the beginning of mission two. I have installed the patch and it has not corrected the problem. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
