    Hi

What model Digital Camera is if from Sony?

    Which Windows version you using>

In general it will be the USB port as most modern cameras hook upto that port, and then in most cases Windows if XP or above will pick up a Mass Storage Driver which will allow you to access the camera from My Computer

cables look something like this for cameras

If your camera is not recognised then you may need drivers for it for your version of Windows, to help you with that either goto Sony Support site or tell us the Model Version of camera.

    Hi

If camera and it should have comes with its own USB cable then open the slot on the left side IIRC opposite side to battery and media card, and plug in the cable then depending on your model of PC you should have more than one USB slot in the back, if not then unhook the printer for now and plug in the camera.

Windows should if this camera has not been used on this PC before start to install the drivers needed, if it cannot find any then it will ask for the CD (this should have been supplied with camera also, pop that in the CD drive and continue to install the driver) but only software for your model on SONYs support site are for a Motion Picture software, so likely the camera will use the default XP Mass Storage driver.

Most PCs have a minimum of 2 USB ports, even laptops. Desktops usually have 4 (or more) in the back and 2 (or more) in the front. As long as you have an empty USB port (front or back) there is no need to unplug the printer (or anything else).

Attached below is a screen shot of the Sony support page for the WSC200 taken from this link; esp. important is the info in the purple box. ;)

If you buy a card reader you won't need to upload your pictures directly from the camera. Get a card reader that accepts your Sony picture card. It should come with its own installation disk. Then all you have to do is insert the card reader in a USB port and insert your camera picture card. A dialog box should come up asking you where you want to open your pictures. I haven't uploaded directly from my cameras in years. I leave the card reader plugged in all the time, so when I have new pictures I just pop the picture flash card in to the reader and I'm off.

    OneCool, wrong answer.
The Major doesn't want old threads dredged up, unless you have a solution to the original problem, nor does he want posters to add a problem to a thread started by someone else. That's called hijacking and it isn't good forum etiquette.

    JoyD, start here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22
if you have a hardware problem and here
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21
if you have a software problem.
On the left, top and bottom, you will see a New Thread button. Click it and start your own thread with any problem you have.
If you aren't sure (it sounds like software - pictures put into a software program, not of your choosing), post it in either place and one of the helpful admins or mods will move it where it belongs.
