1) Where can I download DVD playback codec to play DVD through win media player?

2) I took this old DVD player I have and am installing in my brother's computer. In past, I had this cd in my computer, and could install Sims 2 (Dvd version) just fine. Now, I have cd in his computer, but It won't read sims 2 dvd. Any thoughts as to why? Is Samsung Sd-608 if it helps.

 

Hi, dont know about your second problem but if your looking for codec's, you need a program called gspot, http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html
it tells you which one you need and where to get it, very handy

 

you mixed up cd and dvd a bit there ,so are you sure the dvd drive your putting sims 2 into is dvd drive,does the the drive play other dvds/cd's,does sims work in another drive,when you insert the disk what exactly happens,if you go into my computer does it say sims 2 dvd underneath the letter of the drive,does the computer and drive just keep running with the egg timer and the light on the front of the drive until you remove the disk

 

Yes, drive is definitely DVD. Sims 2 cd is DVD. And yes, egg timer, and light on front of drive until remove disk. put cd in my other custom built comp, and works fine. No, Movie DVD's don't play. I need DVD Codecs.

 

try this go to my computer,right click your dvd drive,properties,autoplay,select an action,take no action,do it for all file types,insert the dvd,again does it say sims dvd now under the drive,either way right click,if it will let you in to the disk navigate to the setup icon little computer thingy and install
