as of late my graphics went to crap... my screen suddenly formed blue/grey lines across it, distorting the image completely, then it shut my computer off. i reinstalled windows.. and now it just forms the blue/gray lines.

i've reseated my gfx card (nvidia geforce 6800, which i've had for less than 2 years).. i reinstalled drivers.. etc.. yet to no avail.

is my gfx card just finally giving out?.. i have a pic below.

How hot does the card normally run?
Is it overclocked or have you overclocked it before?
Do you get artifacts in games as well ?
Maybe you could try underclocking it a bit to see if it that would help.
My first guess would be its another victim of summer heat. :(

what brand is the card? can u check the temps? it might be tough with an f'd up screen haha. maybe its got a lifetime warranty which would be nice. but i agree with ace, its not looking too great lol

Do you have another video card or internal video to test and to help eliminate the possibilities? confused

What about a different monitor? confused

i have a Nvidia Geforce 6800, it runs @ a constant 56 degrees, never been overclocked, i've tried a diff monitor (same result), and haven't been able to try another card in the machine because i don't have another pci-e card on hand.

also.. if i try playing a 3d game the distortion intensifies and lags the graphics so much that it starts flashing from black back to the original image over and over, and then it lags so much the signal to the monitor stops for a bit, then the monitor will phase in and out continually til i restart.

any tips or trickz? or do you suggest i just get a new card?

unfortunately it sounds like the card is shot. Luckily you have PCI-E though so upgrades arent a problem
