hot spot

    I was going to drop my DSL with Comcast and buy a I-touch and use it as a HotSpot....

    is this a good idea?

    Hi

    It depends on what you use the internet for. If you want to stream HD content, download, or do anything but check email and weather, I'd suggest keeping your DSL. Mobile internet is limited to what... 3G speeds? Which is relatively slow.

    Comcast doesn't offer dsl. Dsl is offered by phone companies and Comcast is a cable company.

    Do you have any idea how many MBs or GBs you download in a month? cellphone web service limits the amount and if you exceed, the price jumps. If you don't know your usage, you could be facing a very large cellphone bill.

    it might be Yahoo
    I have no idea how much I download, I'd say none? I use gmail and this and 2 other message boards and facebook
    I'll check how fast my speed is when I get myself home later on

    Everything that is DATA (like a forum loading) is considered a download. So the only way to have a download of zero is to never connect to the internet. (I currently have two computers in the house that never go online).

    You lost me there. What might be yahoo?

    Yep, they sure are. That's what I had for my last ISP in the States. Yahoo SBC internet service.
