Hotmail access problem

When I try to access Hotmail, it accepts my username & password, but then I just get a blank white screen, URL http://sn109w.snt109.mail.live.com/default.aspx

Sometimes, when I retry, it gives 'Wrong username or password' message, when I'm dead certain I have put them in correctly. I double checked.

That is, when I go in via Firefox (V 5, fully updated) or Chrome. Opera opens correctly, first time!

If I access Hotmail using our family account, it opens correctly, and if I then close that Hotmail Account, and go back to my own, it will open!

It was suggested to me that my account had been hacked, and that a change of password would fix it. It didn't.

I run Vista Ultimate, 64 bit

I run AVG, which reports no problems, other than cookies. Malwarebytes found nothing amiss. Ad-Aware finds only tracking cookies.

 

I don't use Hotmail routinely and don't use Opera at all, but as Chrome went to v12 and FF to v5 I have had a number of login problems, mainly with financial sites, and mostly now resolved. IE8 continued working normally so I would guess it's a case of websites not keeping bang up-to-date with browser updates and your problems may resolve themselves over the next few days. As long as you have a workaround (Opera) it's no big deal

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Google Chrome and Firefox still won't let me access Hotmail. In fact, if I try a second time on Firefox, it tells me I have made an error in username or password, even tho I have not!.

Opera still lets me access Hotmail.

I did wonder if I'd got some sort of malware in Firefox - but it seems strange if it were in Firefox and Chrome, simultaneously, but missed Opera.

If anyone has any bright ideas, i'd be very grateful - this is bugging me!

 

I am having a similer problem
I recently downloaded Ad-aware on my laptop on advice from a teacher so my online course would work better.
But since then whenever I log into hotmail to check my email, it says I need to try logging in again and about 20 tabs open up. If I try logging in again the same thing happens.
A friend said that ad-aware might be blocking it somehow. But I do not know how to fix it.

A glimmer of hope - my Firefox/Hotmail played silly-B's for a while - prob about 10 days - and i had to use Opera to get into Hotmail - then, all of a sudden, with no obvious reason, it has started to work properly again.

So - hopefully, - yours will too.

I suggest trying it, every few days.
