I tried to send an attachment via hotmail and during the scan, hotmail told me:

"The file you want to attach contains a virus that cannot be cleaned. The file cannot be attached to your message".
So I ran Norton Antivirus 2004 (with current updates) and it did NOT find a virus. I then went to Trend Micro (who is in bed with MSN Hotmail as their scanning engine) and used their free online virus scan and it too did NOT find virus.

What the heck is going on? Any ideas?

hotmail does that every once in a while. Ive seen lots of posts like that, and tried to open a jpeg attachment and it said the same thing. dont know the solution, but dont worry too much.

If it has a file extension that is rarely used or program specific one then hotmail will block it. If you look you can find their whole of list of blocked/not trusted extensions somewhere when you log into your account.
