how bad is CompUSA?

They have a good deal on a monitor (after rebate), but their score on resellerratings is terrible. CompUSA = 2.2, Amazon=6.5.

Hard to believe a big national can be so bad.

 

I've never had a problem with them or any of the various rebates on the items I've bought. I never had any problems with items I have returned (due to my lack of research or knowledge). I would be more worried about the rating of the Monitor. What exactly is a "Reseller Rating"? Is that used or refurbished?

 

CompUSA got a bad rep for the past couple years for advertising tons of Mail In Rebates and not fulfilling many of them.

there was a big controversy, and now supposedly their corporate has put lots of pressure to ensure any MIR's are fulfilled as long as they are filled out properly. I'd say they're pretty safe now, as long as you do your part and keep copies in case they claim you made a mistake.

other than that, I think they are overpriced-- except for when they have their good sales and rebate deals.

From all comments I've seen, looks like they're OK unless you have a problem. Monitor arrives broken/defective etc., or rebate doesn't come, you're SOL.

 

They have decent sales now and again. The store sucks because nobody knows the meaning of customer service, and while you might be the only customer in the store (which is common due to crappy service), there won't be one employee around to help you.


I wonder how they even stay afloat where I live.

Usually what I do is get the sales advertisement from them, and then take it to Best Buy, and have them price match it. Of course, Best Buy isn't much better either.

 

I'm talking about online ordering and delivery. But still, if there's a problem with the item, delivery, etc...
