So I can feel better and think as though i just created a pc from parts and had no operating system? I just spent half hour re-installing pc and yet I did not get rid of documents........

    Which OS are you installing?

If XP then enter your Bios and set first boot device to CDROM > save and exit settings then pop the XP cd in the drive and re-boot... as part of the install procedure you are given the chance to delete any partitions and create new ones then format and continue with the install.

If its another OS then you'll need a startup/bootdisk ( instructions in MS link on how to do this ) and then follow these instructions on re-partitioning and formatting http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q255867/

if not you can download a bootdisk from here http://www.bootdisk.com/
