My wife top a picture from her digital camera and saved it directly to desktop. She now wants it sent to her email, but I can't find where the pictured is saved. I've looked in display properties in he desktop tab, but it doesn't show up there. Is there another place this picture would be saved inorder to be used in desktop?

You said your wife saved the image from the camera directly to her desktop, so you'd think it would be on the desktop from the way you explained it, forgive me if I got the wrong end of the stick. :)

Did she actually make the image become a desktop background? If so...then in the display properties under desktop tab, you should see the image listed there. Do you remember what you titled it?

Depends on where your wife saved it to.

When you go to Display Properties - Desktop tab, does the picture appear in the little picture of a monitor on the panel that opens?

If so, the photo should be in the list below that (with a grey box). In any case, did you click on browse over to the right? That should take you directly to the source.

I have a feeling you're going to say you tried all this. :(

I checked in the desktop tab listed in display properties and it's not there. I don't have any idea where else to look for something that's now the desktop display. I don't know what she saved it as. I'll have to call here at work to find out. Then maybe I can just do a search for it. The picture wouldn't be saved anywhere else would it?

Seems a bit strange. What IS on the picture of the monitor on the Desktop tab then? Maybe you could attach a 'print screen' of it.
Alternatively, you could do a search in Explorer of all the files with a jpg file type, or whatever type the photo might be. Come to think of it, there is an option there to search for photos and pictures. That would be an easy option.
There are also picture editing programs that will find all the pictures on a drive and give you thumbnails of them. Maybe you have one of those.

mcduke, the answer Gc gave you as far as search may be the easiest way to find it sine you have no idea where it is on your computer. The one thing that may may your search easier is
when you hit search and pick photo's and music, come down the advance tab and put in a date range she downloaded it to the computer that will greatly narrow your search especially if she doesn't remember what it was named. That search should give you only the jpgs downloaded at that time. Take note of where they are then go to that folder.

The picture is of my grand daughter and my wife got it from a website where you can upload digital pictures to and this website then makes prints it'll sell to you. When she went to this website to view the pictures she right clicked on it and saved it as a background (with nothing about giving it a file name). Now she would like to have the same picture saved to desktop on her work computer. So whe was hoping to have it sent to her email.

That's a bit different. The same suggestions as below should work, but you might like to have a look in these first:

    C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Pictures
    C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
    C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

There may be a possibility that the photo only exists on the desktop (I read something about this). If that turns out to be so, your best bet (if you can't get back to the original - from the website or the camera) would be to do a Print Screen. You may be wise to do this first anyway, just in case.

    Are you on XP?

Start>Run>type in regedit hit OK button. On the Edit menu choose Find and look for ConvertedWallpaper (all one word)

It should give you the folder and name of the Wallpaper picture in the right pane of the regedit window.

    Wish I'd said that.

Well, I tried all the suggestions and I'm not having any luck. Thanks for trying to help out. I'll next try to go to the website and see if I can save the picture from there to a file. :)

Good Morning Mcduke, I didn't realize you could still go to the site. This gives you more options. While you are on the site and if you cannot download it to a file , copy the image paste it in paint and save it to a file that way.

    Hi

Could try navigating to this location C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft" and look for file named wallpaper.bmp or similar named file, generally a .bmp (<username> = the user named account)

May need to unhide hidden files, from Folder Options > View

If you can still go to the website where the picture was originally downloaded from, go there and right-click your mouse over the picture. This should pop up a short menu that includes the option to 'save picture as'

Select this, and it will opena save-as dialogue box (usually saving to the my documents->my pictures folder by default). Give it a name you'll recognize, and click save.

Then you should be able to findit as a standalone file by that name in the my pictures folder.
