how can i recover photos music and contacts from my iphone

my mother was trying to update her iphone recently because it stopped working so something happned during the upgrade and when we looked at it it was all wiped the photos music contacts... everything how do we recover everything is there a program on this site that can do that

i understand that an iphone is an apple product which means that doing it from a mac would be easier but we don't have macs only windows and ubuntu. also i have been seeing that all iphone data recovery programs are not free and require a fee or a demo is only issued to view your lost data but won't recover it for you is there an easy way

the iphone wasn't jailbreaked or anything i appreciate your help
