    HI Denise

Are you saying that in your effort to download a smitfraud removal tool you ended up getting infected? And are you referring to the fact that you want to remove the smitfraud removal tool now?

If you know you are still infected why not go thru the R&R here?

and somebody gave you bad advice there
a dirty restore point is better than none at all!

    Hi Kestrel,

Downloading Smitfraud didn't infect my computer. It's a legitimate program. I don't know how the rogues got into my computer. I used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to remove the rogues but I wanted to use another program to make sure that Malwarebytes had gotten all of them and Smitfraud was on the same web page as Malwarebytes, so I thought it was a rogue finding program also. When I tried to run Smitfraud (in safe mode as recommended), it wouldn't run. Since it won't work, I want to remove the program from my computer. It's not listed in Add/Remove Programs and there's no Uninstall file, so I was hoping that I could just delete the folder that contains Smitfraud "rogue finder." Someone told me that only an expert would be able to remove the program or I'd have to do a format. I just did a format less than 2 weeks ago, so if I could just remove the folder, I'd be very happy.

I don't believe that I'm still infected. I thought that running a second program to find rogues was a good idea. I've gone thru R&R here and Chaslang always yells at me, lol, so I'd rather not unless absolutely necessary. I've run several other malware programs and nothing else came up. I believe that a rogue isn't considered malware so that malware programs probably won't find any if there are more. The name of another rogue finder program would be good.

I did disable System Restore :)

Yes, Smitfraud is located on the same page as Malwarebytes at BleepingComputer

I ran SUPERAntiSpyware, F-Secure Support pages F-Secure Online Virus Scanner, and Avast and none of them found anything more than a cookie.
