A "Spotify" icon appears in my Task Bar. "Spotify" does not appear in the Control Panel's Programs and Features window so I can't uninstall it that way. How can I safely uninstall it?

First right click the icon in the Quick Launch section of the Taskbar and select Unpin this program from the Taskbar.

If it doesn't appear in Programs and features,

Then it has either been removed and didn't clean up the shortcut or is a portable version which is run by clicking an exe and was not installed.

This is the path in Windows 7:
    C:\Users\your username on the computer\App Data\ Roaming\Spotify
Do you see a folder there?

If not, then it is gone.

I'm guessing you are using Win 11 - if so you can uninstall it by right clicking it in the Start menu.

    Hi,

Thank you for your replies. Here's what I did to fix my problem: (BTW I'm running Windows 10, as shown in my little blurb at the end of my messages ;))

I checked the Control Panel again and verified that there is no Spotify icon in Programs and Features.

I noticed that MSEdge and MSEdge Runtime 2 )or something like that - can't recall) were listed. I don't use Edge, so I right-clicked MSEdge. I was given the opportunity to "Repair" it so I did. The repair was successful but the Spotify icon was still in the Task Bar.

Then I opened Programs and Features again and this time I right-clicked the 2nd Edge item (the "runtime" version) and was given the option of uninstalling it. The uninstall operation finished successfully, and the Spotify icon disappeared from the Task Bar. I restarted the computer and the Spotify icon was still absent so I assume that it is gone and that it was part of the silly-a$$ Edge stuff.

I just love it when Microsoft installs crap on the computer and does not leave the use any indication that the crap was installed.

If you have signatures turned off, you won't see the following

That was what you learned yesterday. :p

This is being automatically ‘installed’ by a Windows update. I had clip chimp installed. I just right clicked on it & chose uninstall.
