How can I save drivers to use again after I reformat?

It's time for me to reformat my C drive, but the Windows disc that came with my computer is bare-bones. I have drivers for my graphics card on a disc, b ut when I reformat, I'm going to need my network card's drivers saved somewhere (on a disc or another drive perhaps) so I can install them. I don't know how to go about saving drivers though. What would be the best way to do this?

Driver Collector, www.himmo.com will analyse your system, providing a breakdown of devices and their respective drivers. It will also search the Net and try to find the latest drivers.

If you only want a list of your drivers, try DriverView from http://nirsoft.cjb.net.

Both are free.

A more advanced shareware option is Driver Magic professional Edition from www.drivermagic.com

It will automatically find and update your drivers without you having to lift a finger.

Driver Genius professional is another Shareware program, from www.driver-soft.com that has a large database of new drivers to save you sourcing them from the web.

If this program can't find it on their database, it does a google search for you.

All the above is abridged from an article in PCU mag, based in the UK, but available in Australia and theUSA, at least. Page 38/39 in edition number 52.

I haven't tried any so can't comment on which is better, or if they work. Hope this helps. Let us know if you decide to use any/all of these programs, so we can update our knowledge, and maybe our drivers. Bazza
