How can I transfer a hard drive to a different PC?

I have an older generic tower PC with a P2 processor that is not worth repairing (bad mainboard or CPU - has no power, new ATX PS did nothing, no life at all)...

There is an operating system and data on the hard drive. Can I install the hard drive into a different PC and recover the data that is on the drive? If so, how?

    Please help - Thanks! :(

Just plug the drive into another machine, make sure that the jumpers on it are set for "Slave", and then boot up the machine.

Is it as simple as that?? Any Bios settings need changing? Will it boot to the master or slave?
