    Hrmmm....

One way to do this, is to edit your hosts table.

    How does one do this?

    Why, I'm happy you asked!

    Simply migrate to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

    Next, open hosts

ADD the follwing to the end of hosts

    127.0.0.1 www.google.com
    127.0.0.1 google.com

    click file, then save
Now TRY to browse to google

Side note, I tryed this on my own system. And what I typed above worked. So, you shouldn't have an issue.

Typically when a computer tries to establish how to resolve a name, they fist go to the host table. then LMhosts, then DNS.

Though, there is a registry entry that changes this. But, I won't reveal this. :)

    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 hello.com
    127.0.0.1 www.hello.com
    127.0.0.1 http://www.hello.com
    127.0.0.1 http://hello.com

it wont let me upload but there it is

Don't use http://. Remmber that its the host names we're looking for, not URLs.

Make sure you've got a tab between the 127.0.0.1 and the host name.

You can disable looking up in the HOSTS file, as previously stated, but its best to make sure that its all formatted correctly anyway before you go messing with settings like that.

Also, to conserve whitespace (so we can tell whether you typed a tab or not), use the [ code] tags :)
