Hi Geeks, I would like to capture the images from a video. Here's a catch, what I need is 25 images from each second of that video for the duration of about 10 seconds. If anybody knows which software will do a trick let me know. Thank you.

You need editing software to do this, for sure. What format is the video in, avi? Not many out there for free, but a Google search might help.

This isn't a perfect solution but it may save time overall.

    Get KMPlayer http://www.majorgeeks.com/KMPlayer_d5484.html

    Open your video.

Frame advance is "F" key; Capture is Ctrl + E

Get close to your starting point, pause the video and use "F" key to get to your first frame
Then use Ctrl + E to capture the frame and continue with F to advance one frame and Ctrl + E to capture, then F, Ctrl + E, F,Ctrl + E etc. until done.

Sounds like a pain but will probably only take 10 minutes or so. An automatic software would be great but I think this will work and you'll be done with it. (If your video is 25 frames per second you just have to capture 250 pics). Give it a shot. :)

I used this program for image capturing but I’m not quite sure that it is the best option for you but you can give it a try anyway.

I've found one more easy way. Use ACDSee. Right click -> view > select the frame and copy to clipboard. Then insert it to the paint (or to another picture editing application) and save. I've checked it, works well, but the quality of images isn't very good, i think the reason is in the video quality.

Here's a way to do it without having to click each frame manually ---

Freeware VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod can export each individual frame as a bitmap.
Here's a download link for VirtualDub:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/VirtualDub__d5523.html

Load your video into VDub. Use the right and left arrow keyboard buttons to advance to the frame you want to start at, hit the Home key (this will mark the starting spot), then arrow to advance to the last frame you want and hit the End key (this will mark the ending frame).

Go to the main menu File >> Save As Image Sequence.
On the window that opens, enter a file-name in the top input box(each frame will be named with that name, with sequential numbers appended, such as myVid01, myVid02, etc.).
Browse to and select a folder to save the images.
Toward the bottom of the page, select if you want the files to save as Bitmap, Targa, or PNG.
When you click OK, all the frames you selected will save to the designated folder as images.

This works great! I'm a fan of Vdubmod but was unaware of this function. Thanks for sharing this tip. :)
