How do i check if i have a PCI slot?

    Hey Guys

    I have recently got a mini ipod but my usb port is too slow so i need to upgrade but i've decided to get a firewire port because only £10 extra. Its says you need to have a PCI slot but how do i go about checking if i have a PCI slot without having to check inside?

    Easy option is to shut down your PC and open the side, but as you said you dont want to do this yet the best way I have for you is to download this program Everest and once installed and run click Computer > DMI > System Slots and you will see PCI1 ~ PCIx ( x being the number your motheboard has ) click each one of them and it will tell you if they are empty or not.

    again the best way would be to open the side after switching off as at some point you will have to open the side to install the Firewire PCI card.
