how do I disable a setup entry key without the password?

Hello, I hope one of you geniuses out there can help me. My son, who isn't quite as smart as he thinks, has put a system entry key on the kids' computer. He thought he was putting on a BIOS password, but didn't quite get that far. I will put on a BIOS password myself as soon as I can access the setup. I have not been very computer savvy in the past, but I am learning quickly. Our Parents' computer now has its own BIOS password. I was relying only on Windows administrator passwords before, not realizing there was a way around them.

More technical details: I start the machine, I push F2 to enter setup. I see the prompt for the entry key code. I don't know the key code, but if I press enter I can still get into the setup, just not change anything.

P.S. If I can do this before he gets out of bed this morning it will be really helpful, otherwise he might figure out how to put the BIOS password on the rest of the way and I have the feeling that will make things much more difficult.

MA's advice above is pretty good, can't add much there, but the setup password you are describing here sounds exactly like a BIOS password to me.

In fact, I would say that setup password and BIOS password are synonymous.

Not knowing the password is a problem of course, but I just wanted to mention this to keep you from going in circles.

Thanks for your prompt response. I've just downloaded the spotmau software on the Parents' computer and ordered the cd to be sent to me. Can I copy the software to a disc so that I can use it on the kids' computer? When I started to do this, it gave me a message that some of the software would be lost if I continued to copy. I couldn't hardly download the software onto the computer that needs the work! What do I do?
