i have windows xp... and there are numerous programs that start when windows starts that i dont want. as a result, i have to quickly hit cntrl+alt+delete, then kill the explorer process so none of these load. this is annoying, and sometimes im too slow, in which case it takes me several minutes for the computer to get back to speed.

simply put, is there any way that i can disable the programs that activate when i log in to windows?

The best way is Hijack This but there are many ways to do it.

Go to 'Start" and click the run command and type in:

    msconfig

Click the startup tab and deselect all the programs you do not want to start at startup.

Using "msconfig" does not remove the entries it just disables them. If you want to remove them use HJT or delete them from the registry.
