How do I dump entire O/S etc; to a newer SSHD

I have an old Dell Lap, with a F.U.B.A.R. HD, & I want to copy/Clone my O/S on my P/C HD (including all files, photo's, everything)to my New 1Tb SSHD for the lap [it's XP w/sp3] but I still like it?confused

 

XP doesn't port well to new hardware, especially OEM installs of the OS.

Will that "old" Dell lappy even support a 1 TB drive? My "old" Dell Precision M70 (ca. 2005) supposedly has a max HD size of 80 GB for the "C" drive and 40 GB for the modular bay drive although, I'm running Vista Ultimate on a 120 GB "C" drive and XP Pro on an 80 GB modular bay drive (the 80 GB was the original "C" drive). What type of AC adapter does that Dell lappy have? 65 watt, 90 watt, 130 watt? A 65 watt adapter may not be able to supply enough power and burn out.

 

Can't say it'll work in your situation, but when I replaced the HDD in my Dell laptop, the SSD I bought came with what was called a "transfer kit" (really nothing more than a fancy cable and an instruction sheet). But, of course, using it required that the HDD be operable. The process of transferring the OS and everything else over took less than 10 minutes. In my case, the SSD was smaller capacity than the HDD.
