I've been suddenly getting messages about not having enough memory to finish an action. What exactly does that mean? How do I find out where my memory went? And what's eating the memory I do have? I'm not very educated about computer memory so I have no idea how to check this out and fix it. Any suggestions would be very helpful. :) I know you need me to get a "report" of what's on my system ..but how would I find that info so I can post it here?

I know I am running Windows 7 and all my direct X drivers are up to date.
But that's all I know without digging for more info.

Could you help me to do that?
Thank you so much for your patience!!

I've been working on making a spruced up home wedding video from my daughter's wedding in movie maker live and I've been saving the videos in High Definition. I did this multiple times and there were no problems for weeks and then suddenly it stopped saving my videos and said that there wasn't enough memory left to save them in high definition anymore. What exactly does that mean?

I'm very confused. I never had problems before with memory on this computer and I've had it for over a year now. Is there any way to fix this? Do I need to delete the files I've already saved in High Def so I can free up the memory? How does that work exactly? Where is the memory settings located?

Is this why my computer has been getting slower and slower lately?

Again .. thank you so much for hearing me out and I appreciate any advice. :)

    Have a great day!!
    :cool

Happy New Year to you too! Thank you! :)

I ran the report and I got it saved to file but I'm looking through it and it's pretty in depth and I'm not sure I am comfortable with posting in public such details about my computer .. such as serial numbers and other sensitive information. There is SO much info in the report tho and I am not sure what it all means. Is there specific things I can look for and post? Or does it have to be the entire report? I just think it's a LOT of information about my computer for the whole world to see and I'm not sure if that's a smart thing for me to do. I'm not sure what exactly I'm posting. Know what I mean? :-o

Well, knowing if a computer can handle 8 GB of ram from reading what the motherboard can handle, won't help if the computer is a 32 bit OS. So, do one of two things. Either click start, then right click computer, then left click properties, the line where it says system type will tell us if you have a 32bit or 64 bit computer.

    or advanced:

Use powershell, click START, then type in powershell, click windows powershell. type in the following
    get-wmiobject -class Win32_OperatingSystem -namespace "root\CIMV2" | fl OSArchitecture

The result will tell you if you have 32bit or 64 bit.

Many people confuse RAM with Hard Drive space. Are you sure you're not running out of HD space?

Thanks everybody! I really appreciate your help. :)

this is what my computer says:

PROCESSOR: AMD Processor model unknown 2.30 GHz
INSTALLED MEMORY (RAM: 4.00 GB (3.00 GB usable)
    SYSTEM TYPE: 32-bit Operating System

And I am sure it's not Hard Drive space that is the problem. I have plenty of room. ;) The error specifically says MEMORY. It's weird. :(

Do you think something is eating up my memory? Or do I just have a small amount? I have no clue about memory or what's standard and what's low and what's high. ;(

I ran the msconfig and there weren't really any programs running. But thank you for the heads up!! :)

Again .. thank you to everybody trying to help me understand what's going on with this memory issue. :D

    have a fantastic weekend!!
