I have windows XP on my laptop, and my media player always worked fine, and then one day my music wouldn't play and it told me to try updating my device driver. It says that I have Yamaha AC-XG WDM and it told me that it would cause windows to become unstable, so it was preventing it from running it. I have been going around in circles trying to figure out which one I need and how to get it, and drivershq ripped me off, and I am having serious withdrawal from my vast music collection. If someone can help me, please do!!!

It's me again, still wondering if anybody out there can help me. I am not the most computer savvy person in the world, so if someone can help me in any way possible, I would be extremely appreciative. I miss my music so much, so please help!!!! :(

I remember the old Yamaha cards. I also remember doing a housecall about one dodgy Yamaha card that rejected the drivers I found off of the internet, but that's another story.

Did you get the drivers from the Windows installation? If you did, try a driver reinstallation.

If that doesn't work, do a Google search for your sound card.

Unfortunately, there isn't much that can help you out, because I am inexperienced with Yamahas (besides the fact that I know they are ancient and stubborn). If you want to chuck money at the problem, I suggest getting a new portable sound card for your laptop. Luckily, these things come in USB and PCMCIA flavors.

Sorry I couldn't help much, but I have bad luck with these kinds of cards.

You could also try http://www.driverguide.com/. You could register, but from what I remember, the username/password is pretty much the same for everyone (username: driver, password: all).
