i have a small master drive, 6.0 gb for windows 2k, i added a slave drive 15 gb for all my other things to be added to, i want to leave master just to run 2k, and another reason is i dont have the disk to install it on the bigger drive, is there not a way i can get all other programs to load to slave by doing a switch, i read it somewhere, but now i cant find how to do it. and just to add that my win2k is leagal, i read the post by someone who is co owner of this site, i dont have the money to buy all that stuff that he listed, if i did i would buy all that and i would not need to visit sites to learn how to work on my own piece of cheap crap computer. one day i may be able to afford a 5k system, but at the time i am depending on the nice people at geeks to help me keep my cheap crap a going. thanks

You can leave the OS on your 6gb. The only way that I know to get programs to your other drive is to install them there. You can not "move" them. You must uninstall and then reinstall. When you reinstall you point to a new directory on the other drive. Some programs will only install on the main drive.
There are a lot of good (free) programs that work real good for virus/ malware/ etc scan and repair.

I just got through doing the same thing. My master drive is also just 6GB and was getting full since the wife bought a digital camera. I found an 80GB drive on sale for something like $40 and installed it as a slave. Except for MS Office, most of my installed programs are freeware off the web. I just uninstalled/reinstalled a few at a time until they were all moved. Not really a big deal.

i thought you have to do some kind of switch thing to get them to load properly, damn i get so confused at times, i am fixing these computers up for my cousins 12 and 14 girls, been in my closet collecting dust, now im trying to remember how to do all this stuff and its been awhile, not that i was very good at it to begin with, i no longer have the disk that go with them so i cant load to bigger drives, so i added larger slaves, im sure i will be on again with more questions, thank you so much

No, the only kind of "switch thing" that's sometimes necessary is to tell the program where to install. A lot (if not most) installs default to C:\Program Files or somewhere else on the C:\ drive. You just have to type in the drive and path you want.

I don't recall which they were, but I seem to remember a couple of programs didn't give me a choice.

IF an app gives you the option of a Custom install choose that as it most of the time allows you to change the default location of the install, not all software allows this tho as mentioned they mostly default to C:

Dont remember any switch to move installed apps to a slave 2nd location as I would suspect it would cause havok to the registry.. thus causing apps to fail.
