i am new to building computers (just build my first modern one last night). I want to see what temp my CPU is running at and i figured there is probably a way short of sticking a thermometer on it (its not really accessable anyway)

Check the BIOS. Also look on your MOBO manufacturers site for a utility for the job. :D

as prophet said check the bios,I like to sit and look at the temp on a fresh system for a good 15 mins before attempting to install windows,if your up into windows though, there are loads of utilities you can use, motherboard monitor, speedfan, everest, sandra ect
