i have CCleaner on this system already, thank you.

if i uninstall IE7, how will i get online to get IE6?

Control Pannel / Add & Remove programs
    Then uninstall

If you had IE6 before you installed IE7, after you uninstall you will be left with IE6

if i uninstall IE7, IE6 will be there? i looked at the list for add/remove pgms and only see one IE entry Q891781.

    so - step 1 - i uninstall IE7.

    step 2 - i run CCleaner

step 3 - IE 6 will just 'be' back on my computer?

I had installed IE 7 had nothing but problem's IE would freeze up, Lots of web pages wouldnt load

In Add & Remove programs I had IE7 listed, I uninstalled it, Everything went back to normal including going back to IE6 (I dont remember the MS update number)
I didnt have to do anything else

In your Add & remove programs you have the box checked top show updates?

If ASUS's good advice doesn't work just download IE6 it will create a file that you have to double click on to install, do this before uninstalling IE7 and then uninstall IE7, use CCleaner, then double click on the downloaded IE6 and it will install.................Just a caveat to ASUS's advice it wouldn't hurt to download the IE6 install file just incase you have rollback problems like a few have had. Hope that helps and let us know what happens.

thank you. like i said, when i checked add/remove pgms, IE6 is not listed (oops! i just realized i was looking at the add/remove pgms of my win 98 compy!!! ok. just went and looked at my win XP and only IE7 is listed and 'show updates' is NOT checked...).

so i will reinstall IE6, remove IE7 and run CCleaner (updating that now).

    thanks!

Uninstalling IE 7 will roll back to IE 6 automatically. However, its definately a good idea to have the ie6 download handy, as has been suggested, just incase something goes wrong.

when i go to this page, the only real download i see, is for SP2, which it tells me my computer already has.

i dont 'see' anything that says 'download IE6'. what am i missing?

Actually, if you already have SP 2 installed, the only way to reinstall IE 6 is reinstall SP 2 again, there is no seperate download for the SP 2 version of IE 6.

Truth be told, I would recommend just taking the plunge and uninstalling IE 7. It should roll back to IE 6 automatically, you shouldn't need to reinstall.

That has not happened as far as I know, just thought that if you had an spare IE6 download.......so I would just uninstall as ASUS & Gecks suggested.......sorry about the link though guess I should have checked it a little further, I know there is IE6 available, and thought that was it. Let us know how the roll back goes karenl

    "faster browser"???

so IE isnt the end-all of browsers??

    well, my, oh, my....

i really just want my computers to 'work'!!

the kids dont want to use the Win 98 comp any more cuz they cant get MSN msgr nor play the internet game they like to play (Runescape, cuz the compy lags too much. i've tried and tried to fix it to no avail...)
