This is sort of important as I am operating without a virus program and cannot install it until I update this program. I'm used to just clicking next, next, next, next and finish, have never had one like this and I don't know how to do it.

Got update for Roxio Cd & Dvd Creater but don't know how to go about installing. I double click on it and a box pops up with choices as to how or where to install but I don't know which one to choose.

Looks like I'm learning these things the hard way....rolleyes

Your help will be greatly appreciated.:grouphug

Sounds like the file you downloaded needs to be extracted to a separate folder, before you can execute the update.

Can you give the location of the download, so one of us can download it, and take a look at it?

Here's where it gets tricky......I had downloaded AVG program and when I tried to install it made a pop up saying that it couldn't install until I updated Roxio as it had a bug and would interfere with AVG working.... the download was suppose to take care of this......there was an unidentifiable link there to get the download so I don't have anything to show you??!! I just said click her for update, so I clicked on it and the download came through to my desktop. I never saw a page change but it was supposed to have come from Roxio.

What else can I do that might help :confused.....I don't even know where this Roxio Creater is located on my computer, just that AVG said it was old and the update would fix the problem.

Think I have a lot to learn in describing problems better.....sorry.

Strange things are happening here on my pc..........I was going to get instruction as to how to take a screen shot and tried to install AVG first. Install went perfect, even got updates which not being able to get them was the reason I took AVG off to begin with and installed another which kept quiting also!! Thus I went back to AVG.

Now as to the Update.....This is it's description.

    Roxio CDR Driver Update Utility
This update is designed for CDR Driver 7.1 and above.

    Location is in my c/drive

Still don't have screen shot but this is what I get on the Roxio update when I right click it and then click run as....
    1. Which user account .....Current user. is showing picked already (Which is me).

    2. Next per clicked button says....Protect my computer from unauthorized program activity.

Then the explanation of this option......Can prevent computer virus from harming your computer or personal data but selecting it might cause the program to function improperly.

Then leave me with OK or Cancel?

Well what do you think, is it safe to click OK? Did not get any of this on the first try.......very puzzling......especially since I know so little about installing anything on a computer and so little about the lingo.

Strangest thing of all is I was not getting this much when I was trying to understand what to do with it.

Now I feel like I should go ahead and click OK and run it, but will wait for you reply. Really feeling stupid here!!

    Hi

Yes click OK to run the update from Roxio, so long as you downloaded the update off Roxio's website ( or here if we have it ), if you downloaded it off an unknown site then do not run.

But in many cases that message is normal its just a warning that running a file could harm your PC, if you dont know where it came from... but in this case its likely fine, so click OK to install it.

For screenshots this is handy instruction

Glad you have this working now, you mentioned about describing your problems better, to be honest you did great, but one think I would always add to a post for tech support is your version of Windows as the steps to fix can be different per version.

And never feel stupid, if you dont know what to do you dont know and its best to always ask before runing or deleting something. Here at Majorgeeks we strive to not make fun of anyones PC knowledge wether its limited or expert, we try and aim the replies at the users level.

    you and me both.
