How do I know if my USB 2.0 is actually running at 2.0 speeds?

My Toshiba laptop claims to have USB 2.0, but to me, it seems to run awefully slow. For example, I'm in the process of moving about 215 music files from my mp3 player to my hard disk, and the estimated time is 25 minutes. This seems a little slow to me.

any ideas?

Heh, file transfer will only move as fast as the slowest link. Are you certain that both the cable and the MP3 player are USB2 as well?

 

check in the BIOS when u boot, it should give you USB options and stats

 

It depends on the size of the files, what compression etc is used, and if anything else is sharing the bandwith.

To check if your PC has USB 2.0, check Device Manager.

Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, it should say "Enhanced" or "Hi Speed". (your Everest report says Enhanced)

Also, estimated time is just that, an estimate. Try timing it and seeing how long it actually takes.
