I'm reasonably good with bit map graphics, clueless on animation (gif or other).

What are the technical restrictions about making an avatar for this site?

I notice most of the ones provided seem to be 64X64 pixels, but it is not written in stone.

If I did want to animate something, how many frames am I allowed, and how do I tie them all together?

    Thanks.

Obvously I figured the basics out, but I would still like to animate it. That and I would like the technical info. Thanks.

you'll need an image editing program that supports animation (e.g. photoshop/image ready). then, you just create your animation using frames. know the limitations beforehand based on where you'll be using the file.

here are a bunch of animation tutorials

to make an animation you make a bunch of diffrent jpg pictures in photoshop put them all in one folder of its own, then use imageready to import directy as animation, then save in imageready as animated gif picture
