How do I recover HD after accidental Gparted formatting?

Yep, I just wasn't paying attention when I was formatting another drive with my computer using Gparted.

So is there a software that can restore my drive back to working condition? It is not the end of the world if I cannot, just seems that if it formated in under 5 seconds, I may be able to return it to original fairly easy with the right software.

I thought I had found a software, but alas, I cannot find it back now.

There's a few ways to go here: you can use the "undelete" in Boot IT -OR- you can hook up the drive as a secondary drive on a working PC, then use Partition Find-n-Mount to recover the data, but it won't restore the drive to a functional state permanently; you can only access the data when the drive is hooked up as a secondary drive, so this is best for data recovery, not partition rebuilding. I think Gparted has an undelete feature also. If you use Boot IT, you create a bootable CD from the download. Then boot to the CD; it will ask if you want to install to the hard drive; answer NO and it will enter "Maintenance Mode". Then you click on "Partition Work", select the correct drive/partition, then click "Undelete". However, if any data has been written to the drive, you're dead in the water, and the data is (for the most part) gone.

(Boot IT says it's $hareware, but you can use the maintenance mode and create the CD for free; I think it's the installed features that cost money after 30 days; I've been using the same boot CD of Boot IT that I created 4 years ago; it still works, and has NEVER prompted me to buy anything, but I have also never installed anything and only use the maintenance mode)

I tried undo with gparted, but it was after I had shut down, so it did not recognize it's previous work on that drive.

I have not tried anything but booting with that drive, and just set it aside until I can get it going.

I have a windows 7 installed on a separate drive for this machine, and just change drives when I want to use either OS. Just when I was formatting another drive for yet another project, I was not paying attention and wiped my partitions and just formatted to one partition.Didn't have much on second partition, as this was to store creations later down the road.

I suppose I can just recover the data and reinstall everything, such a pain. I really like to fix for the challenge.

I would hate to use recovery software and mess it up if there is a chance to just rebuild the format and have it work again.
