How do I restrict I-E...?

    Hello everyone!
This is my first support forum post. I'm also a new member although I have enjoyed M-G since its beginning.
Yesterday a friend of mine (a non-geek) hit me with an interesting question. Here's the scenario: He wants to sign up his 16-year-old daughter for some kind of on-line course, but he wants his (I-E) browser 'fixed' so she can't go to any web site other than the on-line school.
My first thought was to create a limited account for her on their XP machine (and password-protect all Administrator accounts) so she can't change any Administrator-initiated changes. After that I'm at a loss as to how to 'lock' her browser.confused
Let me also take this opportunity to express my appreciation to anyone who helpfully replies to this post and to say that M-G has been set as my home page for years; it's simply the best site on the internet.

    Best wishes,

    Bruce

I am sure there is software like net nanny, but I'll give you my solution.
    Download hostsxpert

Go to your network connections (rt click Network Places > properities> select Local Area Connection)
Check that under "Connect Using:" is the adapter you are using for the net.
Scroll down to TCP/IP click to select and click the Properities button.
Click use the following DNS and type 127.0.0.1
    OK that.

Goto http://samspade.org/ and type the domain
    ex. majorgeeks.com = [ 208.101.7.150 ]
Run hostsxpert and enter it like
    208.101.7.150 majorgeeks.com
    Save and exit
Now every site will be 404 except MG!! woohoo...

To get the regular net back go back to network properities and check obtain dns automatically.

Our firewall/antivirus has web site access controls in the internet and email controls. You can create a list of approved web sites, and password protect it against changes, PC-cillin 2007. If used on a limited account it should be harder to circumvent.

Had that reversed - doing it in that order you'll never get to samspade.org..opps!
So the quoted text in ths post has the steps correct...
