I have had problems lately with folders and files getting corrupted, (the corrupted one in file corruption is the black one, its supossed to have a picture and not be totally black, it could also go totally green or purple). I have reformatted the HDD since I have Windows 8.1 on it and did the factory reset only to see it come back to my disappointment. I checked my RAM and my HDD and had no errors appear. What could be causing this?

What program did you use to test the RAM?
How did you check your hard drive?

I ask because data corruption can be caused by bad RAM and problems with a hard drive as well as improper startups and shutdowns and power problems.

I used Crystal Disk info and used Microsoft's RAM test tool.
