How do people even find these things?

I was in Software, and someone had posted in this thread which is over 3 years old! Are these people A)a bit slow B) so bored that they start at the back of the forum pages C) thinking that it's funny to bring back threads from the days of yore? I can't keep up with today's threads, much less those from years ago. Anybody know what the deal is?

It does seem rather sad .
I think it must be someone who is regular on the site under a different name as they have only posted once under that name and a new person wouldnt go to that much trouble.

i don't think that's it....it think is people using like google to search for they're problem and clicking directly to the link that's why you get people answer
    3 years post....

    That is more plausable.

Even more likely, they just use the search facility within MGs to find something related to the problem they are experiencing :)

I'm surprised a thread that old would still be accessable. Don't the old ones eventually get dropped off the board?

I've done this a couple of times myself!!!

Half the time they are incomplete with no final solution, so if it is what I'm trying to ask...I will post a reply to bump it upfront again and hopefully get some more help!!! As opposed to having to type out the whole thing again!!!!

But see, this makes sense, you are asking for help and using a previous thread to get help. It looks to me like Goodwrench actually registered specifically to reply to that thread. I think the Google idea is the most plausible.
I too am surprised those threads are still accessible. I thought they got deleted after awhle. The last post on Software that I can access is dated 8 27 05.
Yep, I think the Google archives are to blame.

I see what you mean Eric and since the original poster, did actually fix their issue... in a slightly different way as 3yrs ago we didnt have the amount of spyware available for download as we have today, while both fixes are sound, still didnt make sense to add to a completed thread!?

Dont think I'd want to get into a senario where we would close/lock completed/fixed issues and threads as they only pop up as you say from a google/forum search, every once in a while.

Then again is this no worse that our old favorites............... Best AntiVirus and Firewall threads we get at least 2 each a week of.
