Hi everybody: AVG just found a Trojan in my Temporay files. I made some rescue disks with 3 !/2" floppys, now I'm lost. What do I do next to remove the Viris? Thank you for your help.

Hi! I'm sorry, may be I should post this question under the section on Virus protection.

It appears that AVG is good to find the virus "Trojan" but to get rid of it perhaps they require a purchase. Money is tight for a few more weeks.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm getting really nervous about this.

    Thank you! And, Happy Holidays.

I don't use AVG but what it should have done is to move the virus/trojan to the Vault area so you can then make the decision to delete etc

if it cannot remove this particular trojan, you have 2 options do as needasmoke said and look for a specific removal tool or get this trojan scanning program *( also free )

this program is a complementry addition to any virus scanner as it looks for things they may miss liek Trojans, dialers etc

Thank you needsasmoke and Halo. ah....no it did not move the imbedded object Trojan to the Vault. I also looked it up in their Virus Dictionary, to no avail.

I went under my clean disk and deleted the tempory files. Then ran the avg scan again. It seemed to be gone. Thank you for your help. I need, so much, to learn more about these things. I will down load the programs suggested for safety's sake.

Thank you, both. Happy Holidays. I was afraid everyone was out Christmas Shopping. Glad to hear from you.

    Sincerely yours,

    Dear Halo:

    The a2 program worked Great!!!!!!

It turn out my trojan was an old program IM?? I had downloaded years ago to use for chat purposes. a2 found it in my old harddrive folder. The scan looks clean now.

You know,....I feel like I owe you "major geeks" money. You have helped me and I feel like I know more about my computer than I ever did before. Thank you! I have now received a2, avgfree and Diskeeper lite. If you guys receive the royalties maybe I could buy the full program for one of these when I get some money. Any suggestions as to which one?

    Thank you, again.

btw, I really enjoyed decorating the Christmas Tree and Marths Stewards Message. That was the only tree I got to decorate this year! :) Thank you.

I had a similar issue, working on a customers machine, AVG would find a trojan but would not remove it. I had to run Norton to remove it.
