i am wondering where i can find on my computer where i need to go to see what is all running on the toolbar or what ever it is called that is on the bottom right that shows what all is running, plus i need to get in to where everything is that shows you what all starts up on your computer when you restart it. thanks

you can use this program to edit the items on your start up menu, this is the safest way to do it, however to fairly answer your question you can also follow these steps and check it this way however I wouldn't edit anything doing it this way....
click start>run >type msconfig. the menu will start up however unless you know what exactly you are doing i wouldn't stop any processes

You can view all applications that start on bootup by clicking START > Run > and type in the box msconfig and click OK. In the window that pops up click the Start Up tab. While this shows you everything you should NOT use this to control what starts at start up. To control use a Start Up Manager like StartUpCPL

This is the safest way of doing so and safer than evening using CCLeaner, which some might advise you to do. However, using CCLeaner is not the preferred method recommended at Majorgeeks.com. Helpful information can be found in this link http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=149804

No one said to go to Control Panel. Read the instructions I gave again carefully.

thanks, okay so i see a couple of icons on the bottom that come up after startup, man it took a long time to get back on the internet from restarting, took almost 10 minutes,

so now my question is how to i take off things on there that dont need to be on the startup menu, like i have kodak software and a couple of other things that are slowing things down, how to i find where to control those things and take them off there. i have been to control panel and start up menu and nothing there for me to do what i want to do. thanks and sorry about not reading it right.

Did you download and install the StartUpCPL application as I suggested? If not, do so now.

After installation you can access it by going to Control Panel and it is listed as Start Up. Open it by double clicking and under the HKLM/Run tab you can control which applications start at bootup.

wow, thanks so much, there is like 14 things on there, and half of them dont even need to be on there, i bet that is what has been slowing the computer down, like when i try to sign on the internet, i have dsl, but for some reason lately, it takes a while for the internet to come up. and also like i said earlier, wheni have to restart the computer there is so much running at startup that should not be on there, thanks,

i am going to give it a try now, wish me luck, i am so happy, thanks i hope this works.
