How Do You Keep Yourself And Your Family Healthy During Summer?

Summer is around the corner. It can be a time for rest, excitement, and long days of outdoor fun, but it also ushers in some seasonal health risks.

How do you keep yourself and your family healthy during summer?

What seasonal health risks do you have in your country?

 

I make sure I spray long lasting insecticide around damp areas like storm drains and drainage pits to reduce redback spiders as we have lots of them in my area and they hang out in drains and damp shady areas of the garden. Redback spiders have a nasty bite that is highly venomous but there is antivenine so if bitten and you get the injection it is unlikely you will die.

My block backs onto farmland with long grass and pasture so I make sure I keep the lawn mowed very short so we can see any brown snakes, copperhead snakes and black snakes lurking around as these are reasonably common in my area and they drop in from the paddocks for a drink of water........ if you use sprinklers to water your garden then on really hot days it is like a snake magnet........ then after they have a drink they retreat into either the garden shed or my workshop where there are plenty of hiding spots for them.

I also clean out the bug zappers that live at each end of the deck/BBQ area so they are fully effective against wasps (our wasps are the similar to large american hornets) during the day and mosquitoes at night. Luckily we don't have gnats or midges here as they are small enough to not get zapped by the zapper.

Other than that we just make sure everyone going out in the sun has high SPF sunscreen and suitable UV safe clothing as Australia has the highest incidence of skin cancer (melanoma) caused by the sun.

Most are Heatstroke, Skin rashes, Food poisoning, and Dehydration.

Can suck the life out of a person. I keep my AC in good repair. I try to keep my
home sealed to keep out unwanted critters.

 

there are good doctors..like the dentist or two who pulled hopeless teeth--i dont do root canels... got 22 teeth left

had shingles in eye -they said go to ER and i felt i had to be there

shingles in eye very scary

if i got bit by dog id see a doctor

if i had a collapsed lung id need a doctor i guess
