How do You turn off modem dial-up sound

Have a Robotics V90 56K Speakerphone PCI Modem in my build and have turned the sound off under modem and also under modem in Device manager and it still does the dial-up noise. Thought if you connected a TAD line between sound card and modem it might solve the problem, but have it either way. Since I need a dial up connection on occassion, I would like to resolve the problem and hope someone has an answer. I have been through the robotics support section and user manuals with no resolution!! Thanking you in advance!!! The sound off and TAD line did resolve the problem on my P4 system (at least it appeared to as it dials silently?)

 

Well, without knowing the OS, I would say add an initalization string of

m=0


IIRC, USR modems already ahve the AT portion of the command implied.

 

Win XP Pro SP-1 and I did read about the M codes, but cannot find where to change them under modem options or in device manager options??? Do you change registry entries?

 

Control Panel >Phone and Modem Options >Properties of modem >Advanced (I believe), should be something for extra settings or intiialization strings.

Had it done at home and the report back is all is working fine with no noise. Really appreciate the help Adrynalyne. My next step would have been the registry and that may have been a disastor waiting to happen!
