How does one kill outlook Express?

Being the dangerous program it is, I would like to kill the program and get it completely off of my computer if at all possible.

How does one go about doing that?

That is what I tried first. It is unchecked and the size is 0.0MB, yet it is still accessible from my desktop. I click the icon and Voila! there it is.

 

The "Removal" via Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components, does not actually remove the program files. It just removes it from the Programs menu and, I thought, removed any shortcuts. But, I'm guessing the desktop shortcut may have been one you created and, therefore, the OE removal procedure did not include it. And, as you've discovered, the program still starts, which is a clear indication that the program files are not removed by the "Removal". So, I'd just delete the desktop shortcut and then not worry about OE.

If you have no email accounts set up in OE, there's nothing dangerous about it. If it presented some danger by merely being buried among other Windows components, this would have been known long ago and would have been dealt with by Microsoft through Windows Updates.
