Was wondering if someone could tell me if these reading are OK on my P4 3g.

    depending on room temp.

    idle-38c to 41c

    load- 50c to 54c

I replaced the heatsink last month cause I was getting temp readings about 10c hotter on both idle and load than why I'm getting now. I replaced the crappy stock one with the the Scythe Katana put everything in my older case which has much better air flow, and added some fans. In the older case the guy only had the HSF and no other fans, I tried adding an intake and exhaust fan but that did very little.

    Hi

Themal data for your CPU http://www.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/sb/cs-007999.htm depending on which 3ghz CPU you have the max is around 70c

Not too bad at load, dependant on room temp.

What case dow you have and in what positions are the fans ( what size and CFM are they ) you added and in which direction are they blowing? ( having fans blowing in wrong direction could have two fans in conflict with each other and can cause a pocket of warm air )

Thanks for making me my own thread Halo!

The case I have is an Antec Sonata II.

    (minus the airduct)

I have one 120mm fan (RMP??) in the back as my exhaust, one 80mm (the only thing that fit) in the bottom front as my intake that spins at 3000rpm, I have the stock 120mm fan (that came with my HS) on my CPU's HS, and a vid card fan on my vid card. I have all these hooked up to a zalman fan speed controller, since I found the intake, and vid card fans actually make it cooler at lower speeds. I tried with them both off, but that made the temps go up. So I think with both of them moving just a little bit of air helps keep everything cool.

I think this is the proper way to have the fans, but I'm willing to try something different if it could cool it down more. Don't have a digi cam to take pics though.
