How install Windows 7 on a netbook without Administrator access.

    You guys, I need your help. I have a Dell Mini Laptop, with no CD drive. I forgot the password the the administrator account, and all I have is the guest account. It wont let me install Windows 7 on it, stating that I don't have access. How can I recover the password without the use of a CD drive?

    Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    You might try downloading Ophcrack, and installing it on a USB drive...

    There are also many password recovery programs listed in the Covert Ops section...

    What version of Windows 7 are you trying to install? Is you computer a Dell netbook?

    Hi

    To follow on from the above great questions, DO you have the original Windows 7 DVD? if so then you maybe able to run some steps to make a USB pen bootable (as most netbooks can boot from USB) to run the Win7 installer, just let us know and I posted the steps a while back in another thread I will copy here again.

    If your machine is a Dell netbook, I believe only Windows Starter will run on it. And, you might want to look at the differences between Windows Starter and Windows XP, because after reviewing you may not want to make that move to Windows 7 Starter on your netbook.

    Oh, sorry for not updating the thread! I just decided to go out and buy an external CD drive.

    I had a copy of ophcrack already, so I just used that. Thanks though.
