This may be too general or too specific a question, but here goes. I want to make an 8x10-inch print of a cartoon I clipped from the newspaper and scanned into my computer. I have IrfanView, Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0 and Microsoft PictureIt photo editing programs to choose from. I just can't figure out how to use a photo editor to get this clipping that measures 3"x4" actual-size to print out as an 8x10 that will fit nicely into a picture frame that I can hang on a wall. Any help appreciated.

IrfanView may do it for you BUT I really think going from a 3x4" pic to a 8x10" pic you will loose clarity... as the image definition isnt their to start with.

You scanned this into your computer... what resoulution did it come out as eg. 1000x1000 pixels?

If the image is of a big enough size and the clarity is good it maybe possible to re-size it to 8x10.......if you want I may be able to do it..... as I have some software we use for work at home...

    Thanks, Robo. I'll try it.
Thanks, Halo. I'm using an HP ScanJet 3400C scanner and it was set to let the scanner choose the resolution. The choice was 200 dpi. Others available are 300, 600 and 1,200.

Sorry, Halo--not too swift a reply from me. The resolution is 850 by 1170 pixels, according to IrfanView.

ah ok...... seems a good size

you should be able to re-size it with IrfanView or Photoshop Deluxe.. just pick Image Size on the menu and use custom and re-size it to what you need.

If you want I will gladly try it for you... just PM me and I will give you my email address.

I finally got what I wanted, but maybe it wasn't the easiest way to do it. I set IrfanView to inches and unchecked the Preserve aspect ratio. When I tried to print it, it came up as a jpeg. So I did a Save As and saved it as a bmp and printed it and it was OK. Thanks for your help.
